Question by tim: I have a commercial drivers license but I dont need it, can I get rid of it to avoid paying for an attorney?
Can I get rid of it before my court date and avoid having to hire an attorney to fight the ticket. I dont need it and it costs so much money to hire an attorney just for a speeding ticket. Please help!

The ticket will have to be dealt with no matter if you have a CDL or a non CDL. Even if you were to turn in your license completely, you would still have to handle the ticket.
You can go and convert your CDL to a non CDL license of the same class if you wish, but there is no real reason to do so. The only time this would be advantageous would be if you were charged with DWI or DUI on a CDL, because the license suspension is longer with a CDL upon conviction.
